Members of the idle Everett Symphony Orchestra today announced the establishment of Everett Philharmonic Orchestra.
The move is “to keep classical music alive and well in the Everett area,” according to a news release from the group.
“We just want to make sure our loyal audience still has access to live, professional quality classical music,” said Paul-Elliott Cobbs, maestro of the new group, “and keep our musicians at the ‘top of their game’ by giving them demanding performance opportunities.”
The current season of Everett Symphony Orchestra, also led by Cobbs, was cut short in January due to financial concerns with no plans for classical performances except possibly a concert in October.
A board of directors for the new group has been formed.
A spring gala is planned as the kick-off for the new organization, followed by a subscription series of four concerts. Venues and ticket availability will be announced later.
Meanwhile, the group has set up a Website: www.everettphil.org.
