EVERETT — Detectives believe they’ve identified a suspect in at least two espresso stand robberies in north Everett in December.
The robberies were reported Dec. 20 and Dec. 24 at Diedrich Espresso stands along Broadway. In each case, a man walked up to the window, passed over a threatening note, took the money and ran. He wore a hoodie-style sweatshirt and a beanie-style cap.
The stands’ owner, Jasmine Diedrich, 21, posted pictures of the man in all of her businesses, and warned baristas in town to keep an eye out, she said. One of the women robbed was her sister, who was terrified and shaken afterward.
“Any girls I personally know, I told all my baristas, to let all their barista friends know,” she said. “It’s a small community.”
A potential suspect in the Everett cases was arrested in Marysville last week in connection with two espresso stand robberies there, according to court records.
The man, 20, remained booked Wednesday at Snohomish County Jail for investigation of second-degree robbery.
The Everett Major Crimes Unit is investigating whether that man is responsible for the two Broadway robberies, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said Wednesday.
In both robberies, investigators searched the area with a police dog immediately afterward but couldn’t find a suspect.
Police recovered surveillance footage from at least one of the scenes and shared a picture with Diedrich, she said.
Everett’s Crime Prevention Unit also has met with local espresso stand owners over the past year to offer safety tips and strategies, Snell said.
