Bailey Ingalls, of Everett, received the 21st Century Leaders award from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The award recognizes students who have demonstrated exemplary standards of achievement, initiative and social awareness.
Ingalls double-majored in chemistry and biochemistry and molecular biology. She graduated May 12.
In her Commonwealth Honors College thesis, Ingalls researched ways to make drugs specifically target only the tissues damaged by disease. In addition to academics, she served as a captain with the Amherst Fire Department’s Student Force and played for the UMass Division I American Collegiate Hockey Association team.
After graduation, Ingalls will attend Harvard Medical School.
