The state wants to clean up toxic areas in the Puget Sound. Not surprisingly, our long history of industrial operations along the waterfront has caught up with us. Port Gardner is on the list for clean up.
More information on this project will be coming from Herald reporter Bill Sheets soon.
In the meanwhile, if you want to hear about the project firsthand in an informal settting, here’s your chance. The Bayside Neighborhood Association invited officials from Kimberly Clark (involved in the clean up) and the Dept. of Ecology to talk at the neighborhood monthly meeting, set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Everett Public Library.
You are welcome to attend, even if you don’t live in the Bayside Neighborhood.
More on the project can also be found here. Or you can talk to the Dept. of Ecology guy leading the project: andrew.kallus@ecy.wa.gov.
