With Gov. Chris Gregoire ready to sign a bill expanding rights to same-sex couples, opponents are coming out of their meetings to declare their intent to try and repeal it.
As I reported today, the Washington Values Alliance is involved in conversations about a referendum.
Today, Faith and Freedom Network leader Gary Randall declared that group’s plans online:.
While the lawmakers were voting in favor of homosexual marriage in the Capitol, I and several other leaders in the faith community were meeting a few blocks away, finalizing details before filing a referendum to overturn this legislation.
Opponents argue the bill makes same-sex partners and married couples legally indistinguishable under state law. Randall expects the next step for the bill’s supporters will be to launch a court battle to legalize same-sex marriage. In the press release Randall seeks volunteers with this pitch: We can overturn this legislation with our referendum.
Joshua once asked the people of God to, “Choose this day whom you will serve. As for me and my house,” he proclaimed, “We will serve the Lord.”
This is that kind of moment. Do you believe in homosexual marriage? If you do not, stand with us. If you do, then watch it happen. > Give us your news tips. > Send us a letter to the editor. > More Herald contact information.Talk to us
