BAINBRIDGE ISLAND — A Washington family has its dream home after a barge floated a 200-ton mansion built in 1923 to Bainbridge Island.
The Kitsap Sun reportsed Matt and Mary Rain spent years building a house that burnt down in 2012, just before they moved in. Rather than trying to build a new one, they repaired their finances and decided to buy the 6,500-sqaure-foot house and have it moved across the Puget Sound.
British Columbia-based Nickel Bros. sold the property to the Rains for $850,000 so the owner could build a new structure at the estate south of Madison Park in Seattle on the shore of Lake Washington.
Company representative Jeff McCord says even with the cost of the move, the Rains got a good deal on a home worth $3.5 million.
