GETCHELL — At least one person has been displaced after a fire destroyed a Getchell home Monday morning.
No one was inside the house at the time.
Firefighters could see black smoke from several miles away, said Chief Travis Hots with the Getchell fire district. The house was near 132nd Street NE and Highway 9. When crews arrived around 10:45 a.m., the building was collapsing on itself. Flames reached more than 75 feet high.
It took about a half hour to get the fire under control.
Fire departments from around Snohomish County helped. They trucked in water, as there were no fire hydrants in the rural area.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
