MILL CREEK — A mother and her four kids have been displaced after a kitchen fire in their home south of Mill Creek on Monday.
Fire crews were called out to the 17600 block of Valley Circle Drive shortly after 3 p.m., said Heather Chadwick, a spokeswoman with Snohomish County Fire District 7.
The family wasn’t home at the time.
However, firefighters were told a dog was in the house. They forced open the door and carried the dog outside for medical treatment. The dog is expected to survive.
The family won’t be able to return to their home tonight due to smoke damage, Chadwick said. In the meantime, the American Red Cross is helping the family find temporary housing.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
