Animal shelter hours
To accommodate the monthly staff meeting for Everett Animal Services, the shelter will not open for business until 1 p.m. Thursday at 3200 Cedar St. in Everett.
The phones will be unattended Thursday morning. Anyone with an animal-related emergency should contact 911.
New sign in Sultan: A memorial sign was unveiled Thursday afternoon to honor correctional officer Bruce Ramsey, who died Feb. 17 in a U.S. 2 motorcycle accident. Two signs will sit near the intersection of U.S. 2 and Rice Road, according to the state Department of Transportation.
They will ask drivers headed both east and west to watch for motorcyclists, in Ramsey’s memory.
Ramsey, 47 of Sultan, was riding his motorcycle on U.S. 2 when a Honda sedan pulled out from Rice Road. He was unable to stop.
State stores open July 4: State liquor stores with Sunday hours will be open on Sunday, July 4.
Most state liquor stores will also be open Monday.
Contract stores may be open both days.
Monday is the official state holiday. Most state liquor stores will be open at their normal time of either 10 a.m. or 11 a.m., and close at 7 p.m.
Birding in Mukilteo: The Japanese Gulch Group plans a work party and birding event in the lower gulch, off 1201 Mukilteo Lane, beginning at 1 p.m. July 11.
A nature walk begins at 1 p.m. and a work party to add wood chips to trails starts at 2 p.m. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
