Holiday closures
Happy Fourth of July, America.
We hope you’ve memorized this much of the Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
Here are some closures and changes for the holiday:
Government: Federal, state and local offices are closed.
Schools: Closed.
Post offices: Closed, although Express Mail service continues.
Commerce: Everett and Alderwood malls are open. Check your bank branch for hours.
Transportation: Community Transit is on a regular schedule. Everett Transit is on a Sunday schedule. For ferry information, go to www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries or call 888-808-7977.
The Herald: The delivery deadline is 7:30 a.m. Classified advertising and the front lobby are closed both days. Call in obituaries from 10:30 a.m. to noon today at 425-339-3023. Customer service for home delivery is open from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Call in news tips at 425-339-3428.
Roads closed in Arlington: Downtown streets will be closed from 2 to 7 p.m. today for Independence Day festivities.
The following roads will be closed: Olympic Avenue from Division Street to First Street; Division Street from West Avenue to French Avenue; MacLeod Avenue and Durham Avenue from Division Street to Fifth Street; Broadway Avenue and Newberry Avenue from Division Street to Burke Street; and Gilman Street from Broadway Avenue to French Street.
Olympic Avenue also will be closed from Fifth Street to First Street from July 10 to 12 for the Arlington Street Fair.
