KIRO 7 news honored
The Herald’s news partner, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News, received the National Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence, which recognizes the channel’s achievements in 2008.
It’s the second time in six years the station has received this national award.
Achievement included breaking news coverage of a shooting in downtown Seattle; coverage of severe weather; continuing coverage of a deadly rampage in Skagit County; “Secrets of Our Weather,” a documentary exploring the intricacies of Northwest weather hosted by meteorologist Rebecca Stevenson; “Puget Sound in Peril,” a series on environmental issues; consumer reports about home construction; and safety investigations.
Agencies can request grants: The Zonta Club of Everett is accepting applications from agencies for funding. Nonprofit organizations whose programs meet the objectives of Zonta could be selected to receive funding or obtain assistance in the form of direct support for a program, participate in Fund an Item at the annual Zonta Auction or request assistance through the hands-on program where volunteers work on projects.
Zonta International is a worldwide organization whose main goal is to improve the lives of women worldwide through education and health. Toward that goal, each year the Zonta Club of Everett gives money to non-profit organizations whose programs mirror Zonta’s mission.
The deadline for submitting applications is Wednesday.
