Bubbles!

Learn the science of bubblology at two upcoming library programs. Experiment with objects to make bubbles: tiny bubbles, giant bubbles, bubbles you can hold — even square bubbles. Learn a super bubble solution, too.

Bubblology, 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Snohomish Library, 311 Maple Ave.

Bubble-Fest, 6:30 p.m. July 26 at the Stanwood Library, 9701 271st St. NW

These are outdoor programs and are dependant on weather.

Music in Brier park

Brier Music in the Park is a gathering organized by Brier residents for Brier residents. The free family event starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Load up your lounge chair and picnic basket and meet at Brier City Park (2903 228th St. SW) to hear Centerpiece, The Mighty Dreadful Stringband and Buzz Brümp.

Brew Fest aids research at UO

The Arlington Brew Fest will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Legion Park, 114 N. Olympic Ave. Proceeds benefit Usher syndrome research at the University of Oregon through Vision for a Cure. Tickets ($25, $10 designated driver) are sold online. Must be at least 21 years old.

Celebrate senior dogs

A Walk for Old Dogs and Old Dog Pageant is set for 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Cromwell Park, 18030 Meridian Ave. N, Shoreline. Cost is $25 and benefits the Lake Stevens-based nonprofit Old Dog Haven.

Historic theater needs plumbers, volunteers

The Historic Everett Theatre seeks volunteers to help with plumbing issues and other upkeep needs. Volunteers get free tickets and concessions to Historic Everett Theatre-produced shows.

Volunteers are needed to Stuff the Bus

The Everett Public Schools Foundation plans an annual “Stuff the Bus for Kids” school-supply drive in August and seeks volunteers. School supplies will be collected at three local stores Aug. 11-13. More than 1,700 backpacks will be filled with the donations Aug. 14-17.

Help the Red Cross, nominate a hero

The American Red Cross each year honors ordinary people who have done extraordinary things.

The nonprofit seeks heroes in Snohomish County, such as a dedicated volunteer going above and beyond, a successful life-saving effort, or a long-time blood donor.

Submit nominations by Friday. The Heroes Breakfast is set for Dec. 7 in Everett.
