Help service members
Bring cheer to wounded service members by donating gifts, gadgets and goodies for Christmas stockings assembled by Heartbeat — Serving Wounded Warriors.
The annual project aims to fill more than 800 stockings. Bring donations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday to Mukilteo Presbyterian Church, 4514 84th St. SW in Mukilteo.

Tree lighting Friday: The Mountlake Terrace annual Tree Lighting Ceremony is planned for 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Playfield, 22205 56th Ave. W. It will feature caroling, refreshments and a visit from Santa.
The “tree” is actually a frame constructed of more than 1,800 lights and placed on top of the city’s water tower. When lit, it is visible for miles around. Volunteers will serve cookies, hot coffee and cocoa. Santa should arrive on a fire truck.
The Terrace Park School Choir plans to sing Christmas carols.
PTA seeks $50,000 grant: Eagle Creek Elementary School parents in Arlington want to update the school’s computer lab.
PTA members are asking people to participate in a contest sponsored by Clorox Grants for School. The PTA nominated the school for a $50,000 grant, which would be used to buy 18 computers and educational software.
The award is made based on the number of votes the nominated group receives online.
People can vote once each day until Dec. 9 at www.powera brightfuture.com.
