Hold ’em or fold ’em
The Rotary Club and Purple and Gold clubs of Lake Stevens are planning a Texas Hold’em poker tournament March 12 at the Lake Stevens Team Fitness Center.
Registration is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. There is a $50 buy-in.
Food and beverages are included with registration and beer and wine can be purchased during the tournament.
Participants can enter the tournament raffle to win a spot at the finals table. Proceeds from the tournament go to both clubs to support local activities and projects.
Team Fitness is located at 1109 Frontier Circle East in Lake Stevens.

Benefit for Kayla Healy: A fundraising event for Kayla Healy, a Jackson High School student who needs a double lung transplant, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday.
The event, called COTA for Kayla, will include a hypnotist. It will take place at the Gold Creek Community Church‘s student center, 4326 148th St. Tickets are $12 in advance; $15 at the door.

School transfer requests start: The Marysville School District‘s annual in-district transfer request and out-of-district request period for the 2011-12 school year is open.
Parents who choose to enroll their students in one of the district’s option programs or in a school other than their designated neighborhood school must complete a request no later than Feb. 28 and return it to their designated neighborhood school.
