Front Porch: Learn how to crochet at workshop in Marysville on Oct. 6

Learn crochet basics

Suzi Quillen of Perfectly Knotty will be your guide in a workshop about crochet basics, including stitches, pattern terminology and symbols. The workshop will be from 7-8 p.m. Monday at the Marysville Community Center, 514 Delta Ave.

The registration fee is $10 plus a $12 materials fee. Registration is required. For information or to register online, go to “Parks &Rec. ePlay” at marysvillewa.gov or call the Parks and Recreation office at 360-363-8400.

“Glee” guitarist to play: A guitarist and singer from the TV show “Glee” is scheduled to perform at Mariner High School at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Derik Nelson, an Olympia native, is expected to play a rock-and-pop concert with a full band. A portion of ticket sales will benefit Mariner’s choir.

The 90-minute concert is set to feature original music and cover songs, including those by Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson. Nelson is expected to speak to students at the school earlier in the day.

Concert tickets cost $15 to $35. They are available at the door and online at tinyurl.com/ke648eo.
