Granite Falls deputies
Granite Falls police invite people to an open house planned for 6:30 p.m. Friday at the police station, 205 S. Granite Ave.
The city recently contracted with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office for police services. A sheriff’s sergeant and four deputies are assigned to Granite Falls.
Mayor Joshua Golston will swear in the deputies at 7 p.m. during the event. Light refreshments will be served.
Climb Kilimanjaro: Kyle Bingham of Camano Island is planning to climb five world-class mountains, ending with Mount Everest, while raising money for the Children’s Cancer Association. Bingham will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in July.
The climb and safari are open to the public. Ten climbers will be able to join him, along with guide company Ian Taylor Trekking, on a seven-day climb and a three-day safari. The climb is non-technical and no prior climbing experience is necessary. The cost is $4,550 and includes all land costs once in Africa as well as some equipment.
