Among the highlights of the 2010 course offerings are classes that explore ways that neon displays can be powered with solar energy, flameworking with furnace glass and the use of digital technology in working with glass art.
Pilchuck Glass School was founded in 1971 and is recognized as an international center for glass art education. Located on a former tree farm northeast of Stanwood, Pilchuck sponsors two- and three-week classes each summer.
State Fair seeks board members
The Evergreen State Fair is seeking candidates for four vacancies on its Snohomish County Fair Advisory Board.
The 11-person board meets the second Tuesday of each month. It was created to advise and help staff with the production of the 12-day fair, Snohomish County’s largest annual event.

Flood insurance renewal due
Group flood insurance policies purchased with disaster assistance funds for victims of the fall 2006 floods must be renewed by Feb. 10 to allow people to qualify for more federal disaster aid, state emergency management officials said.
