Again this year, gorgeous glass pumpkins will be abundant at the Schack Art Center Schack-toberfest, an art and harvest-themed festival that includes glass blowing, fall-themed kids activities, and “make-your-own” glass pumpkin classes in the hot shop. Visitors get the chance to pick a glass pumpkin from more than 400 Schack-blown pumpkins in the gallery patch. For those over21, there’s Beer &Brat Night with live music, beer from local breweries, bratwurst and hard cider. Schack-toberfest is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 28, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 29 and noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 30; Beer &Brat Night, 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 29. Cocoon House is hosting a free community block party from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at its new Outreach Center, 1421 Broadway, Everett. The party is expected to feature a live band and free food. The public is welcome to introduce themselves, check out the new location and learn about changes for the nonprofit, which provides emergency housing for youths 13 to 21.
Britt Bunyard, editor and publisher of Fungi magazine, is to speak at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to the Snohomish County Mycological Society at the Baker Community Center, 1401 Poplar Street, Everett. The public is invited to attend.
