Solstice Walk
The public is invited to walk the Snohomish Riverside Trail for an annual Candlelight Solstice Walk, from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. The trail will be lined with white paper bag luminaries to celebrate the longest night of the year. The walk, sponsored by Yoga Circle Studio, will follow the trail from Avenue D to where Maple Avenue ends at Cady Landing.
Money for human needs: The city of Everett is accepting applications for Human Needs Grants. The city has set aside nearly $325,000 in grant money for human services nonprofits that serve local people. About $108,000 more is available if the grant is for addressing homelessness, addiction, mental health or similar issues.
Applications are available on the city’s website (http://everettwa.gov/humanneedsapp) or by contacting Rebecca McCrary at ramccrary@everettwa.gov or 425-257-7133. Applications also can be picked up at the Everett Planning Department, 2930 Wetmore Ave., Suite 8A. Apply by 5 p.m. Jan. 6. For more information, go to http://everettwa.gov/humanneedscommittee.
Pet licenses: Don’t forget to renew annual pet licenses as required in some local areas. The deadlines in many cities are coming up. A lost pet wearing a current license tag is more likely to make it back home safely.
