Spirit of Writing contest winners will read from their work at 3 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Oak Harbor Library, 1000 SE Regatta Drive in Oak Harbor.
Refreshments are planned by Whidbey Island Writers Association.
Free movie: “The Help” will be shown for free at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oak Harbor Library, 1000 SE Regatta Drive in Oak Harbor.
In the movie, a southern society girl returns from college determined to be a writer in this film based on the book by Kathryn Stockett.
Free popcorn is planned by the Friends of the Oak Harbor Library.
Hospice volunteers sought: Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County needs volunteers who can help with a variety of duties, including recording life stories, playing cards with patients, washing their clothes or serving a meal.
