Front Porch: Tip-a-Cop fundraiser at Applebee’s restaurants

Tip a Cop today

To support Special Olympics Washington, a “Tip-A-Cop” fundraiser is planned today.

Law enforcement folks will be on hand at 40 Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bars to

collect tips. It’s planned for 5 to 9 p.m.

Special Olympics Washington offers year-round sports training and competition for those with intellectual disabilities.

Support Edmonds center: The Young at Heart Dinner and Auction is planned for 5 p.m. Friday at Edmonds Senior Center, 220 Railroad Ave. in Edmonds. It costs $35 and includes dinner, a silent, dessert and live auction.

Visit the administrative office for a ticket. Auction items include a seven-day cruise.

Health and fitness fair at Willis Tucker park: Snohomish County Parks and Recreation plans to host its 15th annual Family Health & Fitness Day this weekend to promote family involvement in physical activity.

From 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Willis Tucker Community Park, people can learn more about walking, running and biking on Snohomish County’s extensive regional trails. Zumba and martial arts demonstrations are planned. Staff from the Mill Creek YMCA plan to be on hand. County park rangers will lead guided walks to discuss native plants and animals. The park is at 6705 Puget Park Drive, Snohomish.
