It’s entry time at the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe. The baking and food preservation departments will accept entries 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday in the Display Hall, Building No. 500, Evergreen State Fairgrounds, 14405 179th Ave. SE, Monroe.

Island County Fair is open
Kicking off the 80th year of the Island County Fair, the midway opens from 5-10 tonight.
Bring four cans of donated food and ride carnival rides free from 5-6 p.m. From 6-10 p.m., get 10 rides for $10 with a donation of four cans of food per person.
The fairground is located at 819 Camano Ave., Langley.
Deaconess seeks volunteers for class
Deaconess Children’s Services needs volunteers to assist in the children’s program portion of their parenting education classes.
Make a difference in the lives of children and families at risk of abuse and neglect. There will be lots of one-on-one time with kids and training will be provided.
Schedules and commitment levels vary. All volunteers must complete an application form and pass background investigations. For more information, call Mieko Moody at 425-259-0146, ext. 117.
Donations needed for missing children
A garage sale benefiting missing children is planned for Aug. 27 and 28 at 2402 131st Ave. NE in Lake Stevens.
Sales benefit Operation Lookout, a charter member of the Association of Missing and Exploited Children’s Organizations, dedicated to serve the cause of missing and exploited children, their families and the community.
Organizers need donations for the sale. For location and drop-off information, call Linda at 425-334-9141. The Everett Eagles Junior Drill Team will sell hot dogs at the sale.
