As we mentioned last week, folks could take items for the Everett Gospel Mission in Everett to a meeting at the Sisco Heights Community Club in Arlington.

The response was great.

More than two pickup truck loads of coats, blankets, pants and sweaters, and $80 in cash were received. Organizers said the mission was thankful.

A campaign is under way in which folks will be asked to light pink candles at 6 p.m. on Valentine’s Day.

Two Arizona women are sponsoring the drive in hopes of having candles displayed for five minutes in front of homes on Feb. 14.

The group hopes the effort will send a message of peace to the world and love to those serving overseas.
