Closures for the Monday holiday
Here are some scheduled closures and changes for Labor Day, which is Monday:
Government: Federal, state and local offices are closed.
Schools: Closed.
Post offices: Closed, although express mail service continues.
Commerce: Many businesses and most banks are closed. Everett and Alderwood malls are open.
Transportation: Community and Everett Transits are on Sunday schedules. For ferry information, go to www. wsdot.wa.gov/ferries or call 888-808-7977.
The Herald: The delivery deadline is 7:30 a.m. Classified advertising and the front lobby are closed. Customer service for home delivery will be open from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Call 425-339-3200.
Forums scheduled on county budget
Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon doesn’t plan to release the county’s two-year budget until Thursday, but three forums designed to inform county residents already are scheduled. Members of the County Council announced the forums Friday, stating that they want to hear from taxpayers before approving the budget.
The first is 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Stillaguamish Senior Center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd. in Arlington.
Snohomish residents can meet at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at Willis D. Tucker Community Park, 6705 Puget Park Drive, Snohomish.
In Edmonds, the meeting is 6:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Edmonds City Council chambers, 250 Fifth Ave. N.
County leaders predict a $9 million shortfall this year and implemented a hiring freeze for all county departments this month.
