Buy tickets for dairy banquet
Monday is the deadline to buy tickets for the 2008-09 Snohomish County Dairy Ambassador Coronation Banquet. It’s planned for 6 p.m. April 19 at the Camano Island Community and Senior Center, 606 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island.
Contestants for the ambassador title are Melissa Cook, a junior at Snohomish High School; Kalynn Morcom, a junior at Arlington High School; Andrea Neff, a graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High School; and Katie Nickels, a junior at Stanwood High School.

Police raising funds for benefit run
Arlington Police Department officers plan to join forces with the Marysville and Lake Stevens police departments Saturday for the annual Tip-A-Cop event, raising funds for the Law Enforcement Torch Run, which benefits local Special Olympics athletes.
Officers will help wait tables from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Marysville Red Robin, 16814 Twin Lakes Ave. In addition, the three police forces will be displaying some of their vehicles and equipment.

Culinary expert to visit Everett
Leslie Lightner, owner of Invisible Chef, a gourmet food delivery business, is the scheduled speaker at the Everett Garden Club today.
Lightner, who also teaches at Everett’s Pacific Culinary Studio, has years of experience experimenting with different food flavors from around the world. She enjoys teaching people how to incorporate different flavors into everyday meals.
The free program begins at 11 a.m. at Memorial Community Church, 710 Pecks Drive, Everett.
Arts panel may sponsor concerts
Meribeth Hutchings of Windermere Real Estate will meet today with the Lake Stevens Arts Commission to discuss sponsorship of the city’s Music on the Lake program.
The meeting begins at 6:30 tonight at the annex behind City Hall, 1812 Main St.
Correction
State Rep. Alex Wood, D-Spokane, sponsored the craft-distillery companion bill that became law as a result of the 2008 legislative session. A front-page story on March 30 contained incorrect information.
