Burn ban is likely as air stagnates

Because of ongoing stagnant air conditions, the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency may issue to a Stage I Burn Ban today. The weather pattern is expected to last through the weekend.

“The potential for air quality to degrade to levels ‘unhealthy for sensitive groups’ is significant, especially in Pierce and Snohomish counties,” says Mike Gilroy, Puget Sound Clean Air Agency meteorologist.

“So don’t burn the turkey — or wood. There’s a strong likelihood we will need to issue a burn ban.”
