Pumpkins to bob down Snohomish
The Greatest Pumpkin River Race, sponsored by the Snohomish Chamber of Commerce, is planned for 11:30 a.m. Saturday, with pumpkins floating from the Snohomish River at the end of Maple Street to the Avenue D bridge.
As many as 500 pumpkins will be released by the Snohomish County Search and Rescue water rescue team. The first three pumpkins at the finish line will be declared winners. Each pumpkin will be numbered, and spectators can purchase a corresponding ticket to win cash and prizes if their lucky pumpkin is one of the winners. Tickets are $5 each, and part of the proceeds will be donated to the search and rescue team.
Also in Snohomish, at First Street and Avenue A, family fun events begin at 10 a.m., including pumpkin painting, pumpkin bowling, a pet costume contest at noon, a kids’ costume contest at 12:30 p.m., and a grand finale, the lighting of 300 pumpkins at the Avenue A Gazebo.
