Skatefest takes note of skateboard
Skatefest, a free skateboard competition, will be Saturday at the Lynndale Skate Park, 7326 Olympic View Drive, Lynnwood.
Registration will begin at 11 a.m. and the competition begins at noon.
There are three age categories: 12 and under, 13-14 years old and 15 and older. Prizes will be given to first, second and third places for each age group. There will be free T-shirts, donated by Community Transit, for everyone who registers, and raffles for free prizes. There will be free pizza donated by Boston’s Pizza in Mill Creek as well as soft drinks and water.

Insurance advisers seek volunteers
The local Statewide Health Insurance Benefit Advisers Helpline needs to make sure people have access to health care coverage and prescription drugs. Volunteers provide free insurance counseling and education.
Training is provided. Volunteer jobs have flexibility.

Sewing volunteers sought for program
Those interested in volunteering to teach sewing and needle arts to Snohomish County residents are encouraged to attend October training sessions for the Clothing and Textile Advisor program.
Classes are at the Washington State University Snohomish County Extension office, 600 128th St. SE, Everett.

Cleanup set at Scriber Lake
Folks can clear ivy and blackberry bushes from Scriber Lake Park at an event hosted by staff from the REI store in Lynnwood.
The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the park, 5322 198th St. SW. Registration is available at Alderwood REI or by calling 425-640-6200.
Volunteers are asked to bring their own gardening gloves and loppers. Lunch and snacks are expected to be provided.
