The Arts Council of Snohomish County offers its 13th annual Artists’ Garage Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave., Mukilteo.

Artists clean out their studios and sell art and art supplies. Find watercolors, oils, pastels, acrylics, glass, cards, sculpture, ceramics, photography, garden art and more.

More than 70 artists are expected to participate, rain or shine.

Hosts sought for exchange students

Families near Edmonds Community College are needed to provide rooms for international college students.

Families are needed to host:

  • Japanese students for 10 months while they study hospitality and tourism.

  • Students from a variety of countries staying for a year or more while they complete degrees in business management or computer information systems.

  • Students from Japan, Indonesia and Vietnam arriving at the college this summer for short stays (a week to a month).

  • International students arriving on campus in September for fall quarter hoping to live with an American family.

    Host families should live within a five-minute walk to a bus stop and less than 45 minutes travel to the college. Students need their own room with a desk, chair, bed, dresser, closet, window and locking door and free Internet access.

    Families take part in a three-hour orientation to prepare for their student’s arrival and receive a stipend to help cover hosting costs.

    Learn to judge food at the fair

    There will be a food judge’s training at 9 a.m. Saturday at the VIP Cabin on the Evergreen State Fairgrounds, 14405 179th Ave. SE, Monroe.

    Learn how to judge baked goods, canned foods and dehydrated items. Please bring a baked item with recipe for the hands-on portion of the training.
