FYI: Salmon bake benefit on Saturday

A salmon bake and auction to buy fire equipment for the volunteer firefighters of Snohomish County Fire District 25 is planned for 4 p.m. Saturday.

The event is planned at the Oso Fire Hall, 21824 Highway 530, east of Arlington.

The fireman’s association is considering to next raise money either for a special patient gurney or emergency scene lighting.

Admission costs $9 for adults and $7 for seniors and kids.

Act the part in ‘The Foreigner’

The Reunion Theater Group is holding auditions for “The Foreigner,” a popular comedy by Larry Shue that will be directed by Bob Henry.

Auditions are scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Monday on the fourth floor of 1114 Pacific Ave., Everett. Henry is looking for four men (three mature men and one young romantic lead), two women (one older and one young romantic lead) and one boy between the ages of 9 and 13.

Back-to-school drive continues

Arlington Kids’ Kloset is collecting school supplies for children in the Arlington, Lakewood and Darrington school districts who are in need of help with back-to-school wardrobes and classroom supplies. The drive will continue through Sept. 15.

Collection sites are located at Arlington Pharmacy, Frontier Bank of Arlington and Julie’s Barber and Styling Salon on Olympic Avenue. Donations are also being accepted at Kids’ Kloset, 135 S. French Ave., Arlington.

Items needed are notebook filler paper, pencils and pens, glue, glue sticks, rulers, erasers, scissors, dividers, colored pencils and markers, highlighters and binders.

Last year, Kids’ Kloset distributed nearly 500 new backpacks filled with supplies.

Benefit for ovarian, breast cancer group

The second annual Ladies Night Out, an awareness event for ovarian and breast cancer, is scheduled for 6:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 14. The event is at Grandview Village, 5800 64th St. NE, Marysville.

The event raises money for the nonprofit Ovarian and Breast Cancer Alliance of Washington, which provides education and awareness on these issues.
