A Summer Fun Blast is planned by The Lake Church in Lake Stevens, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 18 at Lake Stevens Middle School, 1031 91st Ave. SE, Everett.

There will be a car show. Entertainment includes Barefoot Moses, a local band that plays a mix of blues, gospel and oldies, as well as local Christian recording artist Tayla. There will be inflatable activity toys and puppet shows for all.

Refreshments are free, and there will be a giveaway of basic school supplies while they last.

Cascade Community Church and the Monroe Community Chapel have joined in a new venture, ServeFest 2007.

ServeFest participants will serve the Monroe and Sultan communities on Aug. 19.

At 4 p.m., there will be a celebration at Lake Tye Park with food, fun and music. Anyone is welcome.

This year, hundreds of people will carry out various jobs for Monroe schools, the cities of Sultan and Monroe and the Evergreen State Fairgrounds.

Also receiving help are two housing programs, Take the Next Step and Housing Hope.

Turning Point Church in partnership with various local churches and businesses, presents Summer Jubilee 2007, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Asbery Field, Marysville. There will be free school supplies for the first 6,500 children and teens who show up, as well as free haircuts for those in kindergarten through high school.

Free entertainment and barbecue throughout the day, including concerts by Christian recording arts Paul Wright and Shawn McDonald.

Also featured will be various performances by church drama teams and choir, the SJ Power Team, as well as a presentation by Predators of the Heart, an educational segment showcasing various reptiles, giant snakes, birds of prey and big cats.

Other events include a youth skate park, fire and police department demonstration, church tents and raffles, four bounce-houses and numerous toys for children.
