GRANITE FALLS — A man died tonight after his car went off the road near here and hit a power pole.
Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives believe two cars were racing eastbound on Egebretson Road about 8 p.m. when one of the drivers lost control, striking a pole, sheriff’s Lt. Brent Speyer said.
The man, 26, of Granite Falls, died at the scene. His name wasn’t released.
Nobody else was hurt, Speyer said. The driver of the other car stayed at the scene and was talking with detectives.
Detectives from the sheriff’s Collision Investigation Unit continue to investigate the crash, where speed appeared to be a factor, Speyer said.
