LYNNWOOD — While firefighters were out dealing with a medical emergency, someone was back at the station eating their lunch.
Firefighters returned to Lynnwood Fire Station 14 to find that the lunch they had been preparing to eat had been disturbed. A bowl of soup was smeared over the table. The sandwiches had vanished.
Firefighters assumed it was a practical joke, said Lt. Merlin Halverson.
"There was a lot of finger-pointing going on, to see who ate whose lunch," Halverson said. "Then we saw this brown behind leaving the station."
Turns out the firefighters, in their haste to save a life, left the door open. A neighborhood dog got in and chowed down on soup and two turkey sandwiches.
"We saw him as he was leaving. He couldn’t understand why we were so grumpy with him," Halverson said.
"It was a small incident, but it was meaningful to us."
