In the lone contested race for Island County commissioner, Republicans appeared to have maintained their lock on the three-member board.
In early returns Tuesday night, Republican incumbent Mike Shelton was fending off a challenge from Democrat Dean Enell.
Shelton, a 12-year commissioner, serves with two other Republicans, Mac McDowell and Bill Byrd.
McDowell, who represents the Oak Harbor area, ran unopposed Tuesday.
