COUPEVILLE — An Island County Jail guard is missing, and the Island County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to find him.
Corrections deputy Duwayne D. Evans, 46, failed to show up for work at the jail Tuesday morning. He has not contacted friends or family. Sheriff’s officials described his sudden disappearance as uncharacteristic.
"We are concerned for Duwayne’s welfare. He is a down-to-earth person, very considerate and responsible. This is unlike him. He would not unnecessarily cause concern to his friends and loved ones," said Sheriff Mike Hawley.
Evans is white, 6 feet tall, weighs 190 pounds, has wavy brown hair, cut short, and blue eyes. He is clean-shaven and wears prescription wire-rimmed glasses. He is missing the third and fourth fingertips on his right hand. He is probably dressed in blue jeans, a blue flannel shirt, white tennis shoes, and a teal car coat that extends to midthigh and has a hood.
Evans is believed to be driving a dark green 2000 Ford Ranger pickup, license A28589J.
Foul play is not indicated at this time.
Anyone who may have seen Evans or knows his location is asked to call Det. Sgt. Russ Lindner at 360-678-4422.
