Seattle Attorney Michael Bond wants on the state Supreme Court.
But he hasn’t decided yet who he wants to unseat.
Justices Mary Fairhurst, Charles Johnson and newly appointed Debra Stephens, all must face voters this fall if they want another term.
Bond, a founding partner of Gardner Bond Trabolsi, told me in an e-mail he hasn’t completely made up his mind which of them he will challenge.
He did offer a little insight on his platform: “I plan to run because I believe that the decisions coming from this Court reflect form over substance and a lack of appreciation for the real problems of real people in a real world. And it runs across subjects as diverse as the property tax initiative, government secrecy and felons caught possessing firearms.” He directed me to his blog for a bit more bio and his legal thoughts. I like this tidbit.
My first position after I became a lawyer was as a Judge Advocate with the Marine Corps. If you’ve seen the movie “A Few Good Men”, in my last year of service I had the job played by Kevin Bacon, and I had a case very similar to the one portrayed in the movie. In this forum, he takes aim at a couple of recent court decisions on public records and political speech worth reading.
You can check out Michael Bond – he looks nothing like Sean Connery – in his online video discussing his campaign.
