LAKE STEVENS — The Lake Stevens Film Festival will host its third annual event Saturday and Sunday.
The festival will have 25 shorts, one feature-length documentary and an animated block of 10 short films curated by Children’s Film Festival Seattle, said Laura Bettelheim, the Lake Stevens Film Fest’s executive director, in an email.
The two-day festival takes place in two locations. Saturday is at LifePoint Church, 14619 28th St. NE, with the doors opening at 9:30 a.m. The event begins 15 minutes later with showings from Children’s Film Festival Seattle. Admission is free Saturday via a grant from BECU.
Sunday’s leg will be held at the Lake Stevens High School Performing Arts Center, 2908 113th Ave NE. Admission for the second day is $20.
“The films we present at our festival represent either talent from the PNW, or films shot here,” Bettelheim said. “I want to see our region depicted on screen and I want the proximity of our fest to draw local talent.”
Chris Pratt has also recorded a video for the film festival. Pratt is a Lake Stevens High School graduate and grew up in Snohomish County. While the showings are the main draw, the festival will have other attractions, including panel discussions with filmmakers, classes and networking opportunities.
