EVERETT – Cleanup continued Monday at the Grifols Biomat USA Plasma Center in downtown Everett, but firefighters are not yet able to pinpoint the cause of the blaze there.
Heavy equipment removed charred debris, but more of the mess needs to be cleaned up before investigators can examine the site, Everett Fire Marshal Warren Burns said. Firefighters suspect the blaze began in the basement, Burns said.
The Jan. 23 fire destroyed the building in the 2800 block of Hoyt Avenue, causing more than $2 million in damage. The 1909 building is owned by Bill Rucker, who also owns H&L Sports a block away.
Two hurt in Everett roll-over accident
Two people were hurt early Sunday when their car went off the road, hit a large rock and rolled over, police said.
A Skagit County man, 19, was driving north on Harrison Avenue with an Everett woman, 18, when he apparently missed the stop sign and went off the road, Everett police Sgt. Boyd Bryant said Monday.
The car vaulted more than 50 feet and car landed in an apartment complex, trapping the woman, he said. Everett firefighters rescued her from the car.
Both were hospitalized with injuries. Their conditions were not available because of a federal privacy law.
