LYNNWOOD — Lynnwood police are investigating a fight that turned into a stabbing at Alderwood mall Saturday evening.
Around 5 p.m. a fight broke out near JC Penney between a 19-year-old man and another teenager.
A bystander, a man in his mid-30s, stepped in to break up the fight. He reportedly was stabbed by the 19-year-old, police said.
The man was taken to the hospital with a single stab wound, Lynnwood Deputy Chief Jim Nelson said.
Information about the wounded man’s condition was not immediately available.
When police arrived at the mall, shoppers and mall security already had detained the suspect.
Based on preliminary information, police do not believe the suspect and victim knew each other.
This seems to be an isolated incident, police said.
