BOTHELL — Shoreline police have arrested a 27-year-old Seattle man after he allegedly tried to run down a detective who fired at the suspect but missed.
Bothell police and King County sheriff’s officers are investigating the incident that occurred Monday. That’s when Shoreline undercover officers tried to arrest the man as he sat in a stolen car in a parking lot in the 22800 block of Highway 527 SE in Bothell, police spokesman Elmer Brown said Wednesday.
The suspect was booked into Snohomish County Jail on investigation of first-degree assault, felony drug possession and a variety of charges from other police agencies, Brown said.
About 9:20 p.m. Monday, Shoreline detectives involved in an investigation regarding drugs and a stolen car tried to arrest the man. An officer used a knife to puncture one of the suspect’s tires, but he still drove off, going over a planting strip toward one detective, who fired a shot and dodged out of the car’s path, Brown said.
Both Shoreline detectives pursued the vehicle for several miles until the flattened tire ended the chase. The suspect fled on foot, but officers caught and arrested him, Brown said. There were no injuries.
Police allegedly found "a fair amount" of suspected cocaine on the suspect, Brown said.
