EVERETT — A man who was struck by a car on southbound I-5 in Everett remained in intensive care at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Friday.
Michael Pyles, 22, of Ferndale, had been pulled over Thursday afternoon for a speeding violation just south of 41st Street SE, officials said. He was being arrested for failing to provide identification when he reportedly ran across the highway. He was struck by a Ford sedan driven by a Marysville man.
Pyles remained in serious condition Friday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Investigators still don’t know why he ran across the highway, said trooper Keith Leary with the Washington State Patrol.
The man had warrants out of Edmonds for theft and drug investigations. He also did not have a valid driver’s license.
The accident backed up traffic in Everett for hours as troopers investigated. No other injuries were reported.
