EVERETT – Detectives this afternoon were investigating a shooting outside a downtown restaurant that left a man seriously hurt.
Reports of a gunshot brought police to the McDonald’s at Everett Avenue and Broadway just after 11 a.m., Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
The victim, 41, from Kentucky, was in an altercation in the parking lot with a 61-year-old Marysville man, who is a regular at the restaurant.
Witnesses told police the victim was in the parking lot when the suspect arrived. The victim reportedly had some kind of argument with the suspect, Goetz said. When the suspect came back from the restaurant, the victim reportedly reached into the suspect’s truck and tried to grab his wallet and cell phone. The suspect shot the man in the lower part of his torso, Goetz said.
Medics drove him to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, where he was in surgery earlier today, Goetz said. The man’s condition was not immediately known.
The suspect remained on scene and is talking with detectives from the Major Crimes Unit.
Police are seeking witnesses to the shooting. Anyone who was at the restaurant or outside at the time of the incident and left before the police arrived is asked to call the tip line at 425-257-8450.
