EVERETT — A 22-year-old man who was fatally shot Sunday in downtown Everett has been identified.
Everett police officers responded to a report of a man shot around 7:18 a.m. in a home in the 3200 block of Wetmore Avenue.
Officers found Naej Belledent and attempted first aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene when paramedics arrived, a police department spokesperson said Sunday. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office determined he died of gunshot wounds. Everett police are investigating the shooting as a homicide, Lt. Kevin Fairchild said.
Investigators had interviewed witnesses, but the inquiry remained in the early stages Wednesday. Police did not have a suspect, so the relationship between Belledent and the shooter remained unknown, Fairchild said.
“There’s a lot of things we need to work out on this one,” he said.
