TACOMA — A spokesman with the Pierce County sheriff’s office says an elderly man who was pulled from a submerged car at the Tacoma Narrows Marina has died of his injuries.
Ed Troyer said in an email Wednesday that the man died after being taken to a hospital Tuesday night.
Authorities say it appears the car drove down a boat ramp at the marina Tuesday night and ended up in about 10 feet of water.
While police and dive teams weren’t initially sure if anyone was in the car, they found an elderly man. Divers brought him to shore and he was taken to a hospital.
Police don’t know why he drove down the ramp.
