Man shot in foot, police say
EVERETT — Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies believe a man who went to check on suspicious activity at a nearby home early Wednesday was shot in the foot as he scared intruders away.
Detectives are not yet certain who fired the weapon, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
The incident took place just before 2 a.m. in the 11900 block of Nels Peters Road, Hover said.
The neighbor, 47, told detectives he was keeping an eye on the home while the neighbors were away. He said he saw something unusual and went to check it out, Hover said.
That’s when the neighbor confronted the burglars and shots were fired, she said. The neighbor told deputies he wrestled the gun away from the suspects, but police do not know who owns the gun.
The man who was shot in the foot didn’t cooperate with deputies and declined to go to the hospital for treatment.
Deputies used police dogs to search for the burglary suspects but no one was found.
