MARYSVILLE — Five teenagers were arrested for investigation of trying to rob a woman at gunpoint Wednesday outside a Starbucks in north Marysville.
The Granite Falls woman, 24, was smoking a cigarette in a car around 8:10 a.m. in the 17100 block of 27th Avenue NE, when the group of teens came up to her and asked for a cigarette, said Sgt. Pete Shove of the Marysville Police Department.
Then one of them brandished what turned out to be a pellet gun, and the robbers tried the door handles, according to police.
Once they realized that wasn’t going to work, they scattered, Shove said. Marysville police said all five suspects — ages 13, 17, 17, 17, and 18 — were taken into custody. Police believe the four boys and one young man are from King County.
A police dog sniffed out the pellet gun. Detectives were interviewing the suspects Wednesday morning.
