EVERETT — The city of Marysville will host an open house on March 19 to share its plans for redeveloping Mother Nature’s Window and opening it as a public park.
For years, the city has been looking to make safety upgrades required for the park to open. In 2022, federal earmarks set aside $750,000 for the park. Marysville also put $1 million toward the park’s design and construction in its 2025-26 budget. Future park improvements and amenities would require about $2 million, the city said in a release Thursday.
In his State of the City address in January, mayor Jon Nehring said the park is set to open later this year. It hasn’t been publicly accessible for more than two decades.
Snohomish County purchased the land, formerly a private park, in the late 1990s. Marysville later annexed it from the county. Taking up 34 acres, it’s located along 55th Avenue, south of 100th Street NE. Once complete, the park will feature public access to old-growth timber.
The open house is set to begin 6 p.m. March 19 at the Marysville Civic Center, located at 501 Delta Ave.
