MILL CREEK — The city of Mill Creek is keeping its own police department.
The topic was not on Tuesday’s night City Council agenda but came up during public comment, officials said. City leaders had been debating whether to contract for police services with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
A number of people addressed the council Tuesday and said they were opposed to the idea, City Manager Tim Burns said.
“They just said they don’t support outsourcing to anyone,” he said. “They love their police department.”
Afterward, council members passed a motion to stop further discussion about a police services contract, Burns said. The vote was 6-0, with one member absent.
