GRANITE FALLS — A hiker missing on Mount Pilchuck since Saturday afternoon was found safe Sunday morning.
“Aside from scratches from brush he is in good condition,” Snohomish County sheriff’s Lt. Rodney Rochon said.
The man, 30, was hiking with three other people. The party got separated about 2 p.m. Hikers believed the man was going to come down the back side of the mountain but he failed to arrive. Hikers called for help at 8:15 p.m.
Crews scoured the mountain late Saturday. Rescuers believed the hiker had little experience and wasn’t prepared to stay out overnight, Rochon said.
The man was still missing Sunday morning and search teams returned to try and track him down. More than 50 people were involved in the search, he said.
A horseback search team shortly before 11 a.m. discovered the lost hiker on the a back road.
