TROUT LAKE — More than a thousand firefighters are concentrating on burning fuel within the boundary lines of the Cold Springs fire near Mount Adams.
The 7,956-acre fire is 60 percent contained. It has been burning in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and on the Yakama Indian Reservation in south-central Washington since July 12.
Fire spokesman James Stone said large pockets of unburned fuel remain inside fire lines and officials are concerned it could burn later in the fire season.
